Blood Orange Margaritas
This is one of my favorite cocktails! Each year when I start seeing the first blood oranges and Cara Cara’s of the season at the Farmer’s Market, I can’t wait to make these margaritas. There is something about the sweet smell of citrus that lingers in the air.
The first place I lived when I moved to San Diego is my first fond memory of smelling citrus blossoms. I would sit on the top stair of my front door in the late evening (before Yoga was part of my life) smelling the floral scent in the air from my next door neighbors' tree. For some reason, the smell in the evening is more prevalent. I can still smell it clearly in my mind.
Just recently I visited Colorado (my home state) for a Yoga training and carried 10 pounds of citrus on the plane with me as an offering. Mostly I wanted to share the amazingness of the season with my dear friends and parents. My mother in-law was visiting before I left and seriously thought I was crazy to take all that fruit with me. I have to say to Momma C, that I happily squeezed every last piece of fruit while I was there! I even had my parents sipping on Margaritas while rolling around on the foam roller I had brought for them to incorporate mobility work.
I believe quality, balance, and moderation are key while nourishing the soul and these amazing margaritas definitely nourish a part of me. Cheers!
