Farmers Market Fresh

My Sunday ritual is going to the Hillcrest Farmers Market, this has been a part of my life for many years now. I have to thank my husband Tim, for opening my mind about food and the sourcing and seasonality of it. We met 14 years ago working at the Lodge at Torrey Pines, he was a chef and I worked in the banquet department. Back then I thought low-fat was the way to go when approaching health and well being. He quickly introduced me to a whole new approach of thinking and eating.

"One of my favorite days of the week now is Sunday. I love perusing the stands and seeing what’s in season."

I went from restricting my diet to moderating it and it completely affected my body shape and energy levels. Then I added yoga and I found out how good I could feel incorporating a healthy love of food and a balanced approach to living. One of my favorite days of the week now is Sunday. I love perusing the stands and seeing what’s in season. I also love knowing where my food comes from and meeting the people who grow it and care for the overall impact it has on our community.

I can say it makes consuming the food much more enjoyable when I feel connected to the source. Being a Yogi has taught me many things but one of the main lessons is, connecting to the source within anything, helps to align us with the abundance in our lives. This ritual is one of the many things that nourishes my soul on a regular basis.
